Teaching Old Docs New Tricks - How can we better teach junior staff?

If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day – but if you teach a man to fish – you feed him for a lifetime

Although we are taught lots of things in medical school - we receive little if any  teaching on how to educate others; and yet education is a key component of our work in healthcare. Medicine after all evolved from an apprentice model and the "see one, do one, teach one" mantra is pretty well ingrained. As we go about our workplace caring for patients, it is also important that we care for our peers and juniors and continually strive to look at ways we can learn together.

In this talk at the inaugural Don't Forget The Bubbles conference, I discuss my own experiences and share practical suggestions we can better integrate effective teaching into the every-moment at work. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful!
